How To Get An Extra $5000 A Month In Jobs With Adwords and Customer Reviews
Successful local marketing is all about constant tweaks, testing, and trial and error. Without testing, you will never grow your marketing strategy to its full potential.
This is because your competitors are already testing or have tested what marketing refinements are working in your area.
The main problem that most home service contractors have is standing out from the crowd. Local competitors who are already engaged in successful marketing strategies can provide fierce competition. Every aspect of your business, from ads to website to customer service, has to stand out from the rest if you want to take your business to the next level.
This is even more important when running a paid search campaign. The main issue for many contractors is that their ads don’t stand out.
If all of the available ads say the same thing then there is no way for your potential customers to know that the quality of your service is actually better.
Get Reviews and Adwords Working Together
There is a solution to this problem, but it will take a little bit of work on your part.
As a disclaimer – you must be willing to provide excellent service to your customers. Otherwise, stop reading now. Those who give kick butt service need to keep reading and learn how.
The most underused strategy in Adwords is Location Extensions with reviews. The main reason that this strategy gets ignored is that it’s difficult to meet the requirements for it. That, and Google makes it a bit confusing.
That right there is a location extension with reviews – doesn’t it look great?
Showing off your reviews doesn’t just demonstrate how good your company is but also makes your ad stand out from everyone else’s. How much so? Well, according to Google, this lift can be anywhere from 10 to 60% in higher click through rates!
If you take an average home services paid search campaign and give it a 10% lift in CTR it can mean anywhere from 1 to 5 more jobs a month depending on the industry.
That can mean $5000 or more just in water damage restoration alone! Even better, with higher CTR comes a higher quality score which can help to lower the keyword bid cost.
So what do you have to do?
All you need is at least
30 reviews with an average of 3 1/2 stars (all within the last year) (In a recent update Google has changed this to 150 reviews with an average of 3.5 start in the last 12 months) on your Google My Business page and have an Adwords campaign with Location Extensions turned on.
Step 1 – Get Reviews
Unfortunately, getting those reviews on Google My Business can be harder than it looks. The good news is that with a little bit of process you can your employees can get those reviews up in no time.
Important: We do not recommend that you purchase reviews or fake reviews. These will not stay around for long and can do more harm than good.
Here are a few good ways to get more reviews:
- Ask for reviews after each job.
- Email your clients after the job is completed.
- Have your office manager place a call as a follow-up and remind them to leave you a review.
- Use an app like 33 Reviews to help increase your review conversion rate and get more reviews directly to Google My Business
Step 2 – Turn On Review Extension
Now, make sure to turn on location extensions in your Adwords account – if they haven’t been turned on already. Also, make sure that the email that you have your Google My Business associated with is connected to your Adwords account.
To turn on location extensions just follow these steps:
- At the home screen click the “Ad Extensions” tab.
- Click on the “View” dropdown and select “Location Extensions”. See below:
- Click the red “+Extension” button and select which location or location you would like to show.
- Press done.
That’s it! Your ads will now show that the location extensions are turned on.
Keep in mind that the location extensions don’t always show up. It depends on your ad position and quality score. Also, if you have multiple locations then you will have to have 30 reviews for each location in order for all locations to show reviews.
Now that you have both steps completed, you are ready to stand out from your competitors! With your new ads, you will start to see higher CTR that results directly into more leads.
Keep in mind that running a successful Adwords campaign takes constant tweaks and testing. Using the location extensions alone will not turn your campaign around over night, instead, it takes constant changes to make an Adwords campaign work!
